Animal Cell's Basic Structure

 Animal cells, in terms of structure, are much simpler than plant cells, so we are going to look at them first. The diagram below shows three of the main organelles (structures).

 (1) The cell nucleus controls all the cell’s activities – the cell’s brain essentially.

(2) The cell membrane controls what passes in and out of the cell.

(3) The cytoplasm is the site where chemical reactions take place.
